Our Story

Godly Restoration Outreach to Women (GROW) was founded in 2004 by Janet Wolfe

When Janet Wolfe went to the Scott County jail in 2004 to share her "story" of life changing experiences and her personal relationship with Jesus Christ, she had no idea the doors the Lord was opening for her and the women of the Quad City area.

From that jail house experience, God revealed to Janet that He was working all around our jail/prison systems.  He was inviting her, as well as others, to get involved in this work.

It started slowly at first, with encouraging letters to the inmates who visited her church class each week. A friend, Terri Kosth, joined her in those classes to get the ladies worshiping in song.  But the needs became abundantly apparent to Janet.  The Lord showed her what was needed to help the inmates change their lives of crime.

One by one, change began to happen.  Bibles were given out at the jails, clothing was given to the women as they left the jail, furniture was found for new apartments, and especially rides to local churches, but it wasn’t enough!

With much research and seeking the Lord, in 2005 GROW Ministries opened the only faith-based, non-profit for women in crisis in the QCA.

GROW is a unique ministry,  helping women in all sorts of crisis, that is our passion! Counseling victims of domestic violence is one of those passions. Healing from traumas is not easy and knowing Biblical principles for that healing is essential. Life also can take some rough turns, sometimes because of our own decisions and sometimes because of circumstances beyond our control. GROW has developed 6 different jail ministry teams, ministering to both men and women. Our homeless outreach, those in crisis in the streets, tries to meet the immediate needs of those we meet, with warm food, clothing, coats, gloves, socks, cold drinks, and especially the good news of the gospel.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, GROW Ministries, Inc. is funded by:

  • local community church support and,
  • individual contributions.

Janet is dedicated professional and a good steward of the Lord.  She has vowed  never to take GROW Ministries into debt.  That is why contributions of time, talent and funds are needed for this ministry.
