Grow Ministries Women’s Program is NOT an Emergency Shelter. We conduct interviews with each candidate to find out why she feels she should attend this kind of program. We are looking for women who are ready to make changes in their lives and who require healing from their past.
Women can stay for as long as they need to. The majority of women remain for ten months to a year. This is not a 21-, 30-, or 60-day program after which they have to leave, as every woman is different and experiences healing and transformation at their own pace. This program has no set to end date.
Once a woman enrolls in the program, it follows her through to the point where she finds her own place, work, and rehabilitation. We even assist her in setting up her new residence (dishes, furniture, etc.). We have a church in Andover, Illinois, that pays her damage deposit straight to the landlord, allowing her to have money in the bank, and we surprise her when she saves enough for a damage deposit and first month's rent.
Our target client is either a victim of domestic violence, human trafficking, addictions, or of jail/prison. Although we are able to accommodate children, males under the age of ten are not permitted to remain at the facility.
Upon admission to the program, every client is given a set of fundamental guidelines. Women are prohibited from using cellphones for the first 30 days until they begin putting their newfound knowledge into practice. Homework is the main focus of the program for change. The client bears NO expenses for the program.
We assist victims of domestic violence with court dates and Orders of Protection (OPs). We also provide 20 weeks of workbook-based counseling; the client is not required to reside at the facility in order to receive counseling.
Clients are required to participate in daily bible studies and go to church every Sunday. You are required to use each and every tool provided to you in this program on a daily basis.
In order to be considered for admission, you must call or send the Director, Janet Lohmann, a letter explaining your story and why you want to attend GROW Ministries. Our program is challenging, but it is also attainable through your connection with Jesus Christ.
